Torben Frigaard Rasmussen - leading the SaaS accounting solution E-conomic

After seven months as Chairman of the Board, Torben joined E-conomic as CEO in September, 2008.

When Torben joined E-conomic there were 15,000 customers in four countries using the system and 50 employees. Only two years later, there are now more than 35,000 customers in nine different countries and 75 employees - as well as a rate of growth of 40-50% per year and a doubled revenue of more than seven million Euros in 2010.

Torben: "I'm a facilitator"

"I believe that leadership is about just that: leading, not managing. The success of E-conomic truly comes down to our skilful employees.

My part is to encourage and involve those who are performing, as well as give them ownership. Also, I have some good ideas every now and then :-)

The horizontal organization style that I strive for is imperitive for our success. We need the ability to move and react quickly.

Ambitious mission
When I joined E-conomic, I created an ambitious mission statement. I believe that goals should be ambitious, yet still obtainable. Our mission to reach 100,000 customers by the end of 2013 is aiming high, but with the current growth rates that E-conomic is seeing, we are definitely getting there.

Strong online presence and scaling
In the last two years, E-conomic has managed to build a strong online presence through our websites, online help wikis, blogs, forums, video hosting, and so on. Out growth rate in this area really puts a smile on my face. Having a strong online presence is great for our marketing and scalability.

I often ask "Will it scale?" - because it is very important that everything does. When we aim for 100,000 customers in 12 countries and use more than forty different online media - it is critical that scalability is adopted into every aspect.

Remembering to have fun
I belive that the key to reaching our mission of 100,000 customers is to provide an accounting system that delights our users and makes them smile.

It isn't a coincidence that we've included the word "fun" as a part of our mission statement. Fun is important for acheiving anything. I work to encourage fun on a day to day basis, as well as in our accounting system."

Past CEO of global e-mail and mobile advertising company Come&Stay. Prior to joining E-conomic, Torben helped build Come&Stay into a global market leader. Currently serving on numerous boards throughout the online industry. Lived and worked in the USA for five years. Attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. Attended the Southern Danish University.
