10 percent of new customers sign up via own partner programme

9 August 2011

E-conomic is deliberately favouring their internally developed partner programme over large affiliate networks

With more than 37,000 customers, E-conomic is now one of the largest suppliers of a 100 percent web-based accounting system targeted towards small and medium businesses. 10 percent of the approx. 1,000 new customer sign-ups each month come from E-conomic’s own Referral Partner Programme, which is quite remarkable in the industry. The number of affiliate partners has increased by 35 percent within the past year alone. Social media play a vital role.

High-quality partner programme

Unsuccessful campaigns using large affiliate networks spurred Danish accounting software provider E-conomic to develop their own Referral Partner Programme. This has become a very profitable undertaking in just a few years, as the programme is primarily used by E-conomic’s own customers to recommend E-conomic to others.

- The quality of the links we get from our own partner programme is significantly higher than for the links we get from activities like banner ads using large affiliate networks. Recommendations from our existing users mean that the conversion rate is 60 percent higher than from traditional networks, says E-conomic Innovation Manager Jes Brinch Jensen.

Social media play vital role

In addition to the 37,000 small and medium businesses already signed up, E-conomic collaborates with approx. 2,000 accountancy and administration firms. According to E-conomic CEO Torben Frigaard Rasmussen, all types of businesses use E-conomic’s Referral Partner Programme today. The goal is not necessarily websites with massive traffic; social media play a key role in how businesses make use of the partner programme as well.

- Naturally, our partner programme is well-suited for accountancy firms and bookkeepers who use E-conomic for their clients on a daily basis. However, many of our customers are quite familiar with online media, which means they also use different kinds of social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs etc. Their use of our partner programme is growing steadily as they recommend us through this channel, says E-conomic CEO Torben Frigaard Rasmussen.

Businesses sign up for E-conomic’s Referral Partner Programme using an application form on E-conomic’s website. If your business is approved as a partner, you can use a password to log on to the application directly and retrieve the most suitable collateral for e.g. your website or Facebook page. The list of E-conomic partners includes Business IT Guide and Cloud Business Review.

Nearly 1,000 E-conomic customers are Referral Partners today. For every link converted to an E-conomic customer, the referrer receives approx. 65 EUR.
