British Chamber of Commerce in Denmark on E-conomic

We initially started using E-conomic after our accountant suggested it. We were amazed how user-friendly the system could be after using such a complicated offline system.

Penny Schmith and Katherine Kent, The BCCD

The British Chamber of Commerce in Denmark is a bilateral Chamber for British and Danish business people in Denmark. The BCCD’s vision is to be a “prominent promoter of business and culture between Britain and Denmark”. The self-financing, membership-driven non-profit organization started using the E-conomic accounting system in December, 2009 to keep track of their accounts – and they haven’t looked back since.

Penny Schmith, Executive Director of the BCCD, and Katherine Kent, the Networking & Events Facilitator, sat down with us at our Copenhagen headquarters to discuss how the E-conomic online accounting system changed their bookkeeping process for the better.

Find out firsthand about the BCCD's experience with E-conomic:

Why did you choose E-conomic?

"For a number of years we worked with a huge offline accounting software meant for large corporations. We couldn't extract reports or get a quick overview of our accounts, we relied heavily on the support of our accountant, and had to push lots of work to a consultancy company," says Penny.

"Finally, we decided to cut our losses and we paid to extract our data from the offline system. We initially started using E-conomic after our accountant suggested it. We were amazed how user-friendly the system could be after using such a complicated offline system."

What features do you like best?

"We use numerous apps with the E-conomic system, including the subscription add-on module for our membership invoicing, the departments module, and WebCRM," says Katherine.

"We have a small team, so it's useful to take the time to set up the system initially so that we can complete tasks quicker later. The subscription module is especially useful - we can save time by mass invoicing our members for events and yearly membership renewals."

"The mobility of the system is great - we can go onto any computer, anywhere, and access our accounts and a complete overview. The system also helps make the back-up of our financial data much easier and safer than ever before. At no extra cost, we no longer worry about whether our data is secure."

"We used to create invoices through Microsoft Word, but now with Design and Layout in E-conomic it's so easy to send and edit invoices directly from the system."
