Health Therapist Grevstad praises E-conomic

It has been 30 years since I started my business. In the beginning, I personally handled all the bookkeeping and invoicing on my own. As time went by however, my finances became so complex that I was in the need of a professional accounting agency.

I was pleased with the work the agency was performing, but then their rates skyrocketed and it became too expensive. While suffering for a few years with huge bills and frustrating increases in service rates, I came to the conclusion that changes needed to be made in order to reduce my accounting expenses.

I went on a search through the internet to find an accounting system I could use myself without too much of a struggle. Vaguely, I still remember some things about debits and credits from my time at a college studying economics (many years ago), and so I figured that it might be a possibility for me.

How I came to work with E-conomic

I am pretty sure I had tried most of the online accounting systems that were available before I came across E-conomic, which I did not know existed at the time. During my search I came across several situations that were very discouraging.

Agencies had attempted to sell me services for which I had no need, I reviewed more than a few systems that were confusing and complicated, someone had actually called me arrogant because I was not familiar with the numbers in the default chart of accounts and many providers seemed to make way more promises than they would manage to keep.

Eventually, I landed on one of the websites of E-conomic. Straight away it had appealed to me for a number of reasons. To start with, E-conomic gave the impression of an easily comprehensible system, which is saying a lot considering I am no accounting expert.

I was pleased to see that I was communicating with some very nice people over e-mail as well as over the phone. My questions were answered in a very polite manner, trying to come up with the most appropriate answer even if it took considerable time. Their patience was very pleasing and surprising to witness.

It all seemed too good to be true - cost-effeciency and clear, polite support is often hard to find in one package.

First steps alongside E-conomic

To help me get started, I convinced my accountant to assist me. She was forced to learn a whole new system as well, but because she is so familiar with accounting and technical knowledge, I received a very strong introduction to the application.

Eventually, I took over the bookkeeping by myself and it has been quite easy ever since. Of course I must admit that I did make some bookkeeping errors, but I managed to fix them and only needed to phone support a few times.

In the Future

Today, I am sitting with my completed VAT reported after closing my first accounting year, and everything printed and laid out just the way I want it. I feel a strong sense of pride and believe it or not, it seems as though the accounting part was actually fun!

In a few weeks I will be opening the 2010 accounting year and am eagerly looking forward to it. The features of E-conomic that I am in need of, I have become very familiar with. Creating daily book entries, invoicing, and retrieving reports with just a click of the mouse has proven to be practical and extremely easy.
